Waiting to Work.....

Monotype
8 1/2" x 11 1/2 "

Detail

Monotype
7" x 9"

I wish I could say these prints are "hot off the press."  Regrettably, they aren't.  And furthermore, I won't be doing any printmaking on real presses anytime soon.  But it's fun to dream of a time in the future when hours and days stretch on end and printing presses are nearby.  In the meantime, when a few hours present themselves, there's always the possibility of printing by means of the back of a spoon or by using a barren.  :)

Cheers!!

love the quality of these images. am also a artist but pay the bills via antiques. always difficult to steal time for creativity and very hard to form a cohesive body of work. please pop by my 'other' (read art only blog); would love some feedback; cheerio for now, linda...

Hi Linda, Thanks very much for your comments. And what a coincidence: I hadn't visited Odd and Old for a while and literally was preparing to click on your link when your comment came through. I'll check out your other blog now. Best...

I see you take your inspiration from nature as well. Are you by any chance talking of retirement when "hours and days stretch on end". If so, you've got it wrong, time flies by fast!

Gloria, your prints are lovely. I know that feeling very well... always waiting for creative time. This year I have been trying to block out chunks of time for creative work because 'time waits for no one'. Just like making time for exercise or friends or family. Knowing ahead of time that I am going to get to do creative work at a certain time on a certain day seems like it would not be creative, but I look forward to it and find that I am usually ready to make something. - Sue

Sue, Yes, a designated time, (along with a commitment to honor it!)is a great idea. The latter concept is the more difficult one for most of us, I'm sure. Love the work you are doing!
